Noamundi, Sept. 14: Tata Steel is all set to organise a football match between TFA XI and Odisha XI at Noamundi Sports Complex, Noamundi on September 17.
The objective behind the match is to bring forth the national football to the people of Noamundi and its nearby areas.
Tata Steel has always been a pioneer in the development of sports in the country, especially football. Tata Steel nurtures budding footballers in its Feeder Centre at Noamundi and promotes community football in the region.
Tata Football Academy (TFA) at Jamshedpur established by Tata Steel in 1987 is a first-of-its-kind institution that was set up to groom budding footballers so that they can evolve into good footballers in course of time. The Academy not only provides intensive training but also all-round developmental opportunities with facilities for formal education and vocational training.
The Company recently formed Jamshedpur Football Club at Jamshedpur. The club will compete as a member of the Indian Super League, one of the top leagues of Indian football, starting with the 2017-18 season. The club was established on 12 May 2017 when Tata Steel won the bidding rights for one of two expansion spots in the Indian Super League.
