Ranchi, July 2: Coronavirus case in Jharkhand is touching new heights with every passing day. 96 new positives were reported in the state on Thursday, July 2. With 96 new cases, state corona tally has reached 2621.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 449 with 45 new cases reported on July 2. The district administration spokesperson informed that 45 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Thursday.
Earlier in the day 11 positives were identified while 34 more cases came in late on Thursday night.
19 CRPF Jawan from Sundernagar camp who have returned from different regions across India have tested positive.
All the CRPF Jawans arrived on June 29 and their swab sample was taken on June 30. 19 have tested positive and have been admitted to COVID-19 ward at TMH.
Two persons have returned from Kyrgyzstan and were in paid quarantine at Boulevard Hotel in Bistupur.
A resident of Kadma Bhatia basti who returned from Delhi was in paid quarantine at Hotel in kagalnagar, Sonari. Baridih girl who returned from Kolkata was in TMH isolation ward ever since her arrival in the Steel City.
Bagbera New Basti couple who returned to Jamshedpur on June 30 from Arah in Bihar were in isolation ward of TMH have also tested positive. One person from Potka, one from Dhalbhumgarh and 13 from Chakulia all with travel history have tested positive.
2 have travel history to Hazaribagh, one has returned from Buxar, one from Jammu and Kashmir, and one person has returned from Gorakhpur.
All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward.
Other positives in Jamshedpur includes an administrative official along with his wife resident of Vijay Heritage in Kadma and posted in Chaibasa. Of the 45 positives two patients do not have travel history but where in quarantine center at Pardih after coming in contact with an infected person.
On Thursday, 57 patients have recovered in the state and were discharged from various COVID-19 ward.
Other positives in Jharkhand are from Chatra 7, Deoghar 1, Dhanbad 3, Garhwa 1, Giridih 7, Godda 1, Hazaribagh 3, Khunti 2, Koderma 8, Latehar 3, Lohardaga 1, Palamu 8, Ramgarh 1, Ranchi 3 and Sahebganj 2 taking the state tally to 2621.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 582 and fatalities at 15 while 1988 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. Seven deaths were reported in Ranchi, two each in Bokaro and Hazaribag and one each in Giridih, Gumla, Koderma and Simdega.
2010 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 449 cases out of a total of 2621. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
