Ranchi: The 1982 batch IAS officer Rajiv Gauba will be the new chief secretary of Jharkhand. The department of Personnel, Administrative Reform and Raj Bhasa has issued a circular in this regard today.
The Incumbent chief secretary Sajal Chakaborty has been appointed in the post of additional secretary in the department of aviation.
Rajiv Gauba who was on Central deputation has already been relieved from Union Home Ministry.
According to information chief minister Raghubar Das was unhappy over repeated public statements made by Sajal Chakraborty on various occasions in recent times.
It is said that today during the high-level meeting held in Ranchi Chakraborty got into an argument with the chief minister. Taking a serious note of this the State Government removed Sajal Chakraborty from the post of chief secretary.
Additional Secretary in the Home Ministry, Rajiv Gauba, was today relieved from central deputation for repatriation to his parent cadre Jharkhand.
Gauba is believed to have been selected by the new state government led by Chief Minister Raghubar Das keeping in mind his expertise in multilateral financial institutions and Information Technology and in dealing with the Naxal menace. Jharkhand is one of the Left-Wing Extremism-affected states.
Gauba, 55, has worked at the International Monetary Fund and also served in the Indian Embassy at Washington.
