Ranchi, June 23: Coronavirus cases are touching newer heights in Jharkhand with every passing day. Multiplying more than three times in the last three weeks, the total number of coronavirus cases has crossed 2,200. The number of Covid-19 cases was around 600 in the first week of the month. With 18 new cases on Wednesday state corona tally has reached 2219. A corona positive person died in Hazaribagh on Wednesday taking the Jharkhand death tally to 12.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 343 with 2 new cases reported on June 24. The district administration spokesperson informed that 2 corona positives have been identified.
Of the 2 positives in Jamshedpur, 1 has travel history to Haryana while one has returned from Chennai. One of the positive is a resident of Sidhgora while the second positive resides in Mango. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward.
On Wednesday, 18 patients have recovered in the East Singhbhum district. Of the 18 discharged two each from Govindpur, Sakchi, Huladbani and Sonari, one each from Chakulia, Patamda, Dhalbhumgarh, Bagbera, Birsanagar, Golmuri and Sindhu Road (10 No. Basti), three are from Dumaria,
Other positives in Jharkhand are from Hazaribagh 4, Seraikela 1, Palamau 1, Lohardaga 1, Khunti 2, Dhanbad 5, Ranchi 1 and Deoghar 1 taking the total tally to 2219 in the state. Total active cases in the state stand at 632 while Dumka and Pakur are the only district that are corona free. Total of 55 people recovered from the disease in Jharkhand.
Earlier on Tuesday, in Dhanbad corona positive Dr AK Gupta’s seven members of the family have also been infected the virus.
In Jharkhand around 1572 patients have defeated the virus while around 632 active cases are still present in the state. Of the 24 districts in the state 8 were declared corona free but the virus again retuned in 6 of those districts on Sunday. Pakur and Dumka are the only corona free districts in Jharkhand.
Total of 1841 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
In Jharkhand, there has been no percentage prevalence of community transmission found in the Sero-Survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in three districts of the state.
Based on the reports received by ICMR, there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Jharkhand.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 343 cases out of a total of 2219. The state has allowed reopening of garments and footwear shops. The religious places are still closed.
