Ranchi: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha president Babulal Marandi today met governor Dr Syed Ahmad and demanded that action be taken against MLAs of the ruling alliance who have joined other political parties under the anti-defection law. He also demanded that the government be removed since it was now in ‘minority’.

Marandi, who led a delegation of party members to the Raj Bhavan, said the government should make use of his powers as laid down in the Constitution. “Many members of the Jharkhand Assembly have lost their right to remain members of the House as they have quit their parties and joined other parties. Such MLAs should be sacked as members of the Assembly,” said Marandi.

Marandi said Bandhu Tirkey and Chamra Linda were elected MLA as independents, but later joined Trinamool Congress. “The para 2(2) of Tenth List of the Constitution and the Jharkhand Assembly Member Rule 2 have been violated by the two MLAs. Hence they do not deserve to be MLAs anymore,” said the former Jharkhand Chief Minister.

Marandi further cited the names of former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemlal Murmu who joined Bharatiya Janata Party on 7th March last. “Congress MLA and former legislator Chandrashekhar alias Dadai Dubey too, joined Trinamool Congress. He along with Hemlal Murmu should be expelled from the Assembly due to violation of anti-defection laws,” said Marandi.

Marandi said the legislators had changed their parties and hence they ceased to support the state government in their previous capacity.

Other members of the delegation included leader of legislative group of JVM Pradip Yadav, former MLA Gautam Sagar Rana, Sunil Sahu, Ramesh Kumar Rahi and Amit Kumar.
