Amitabh Bachchan, not mere a name, but an aeon. This star of the millenium, has become  eternal. His acting skills has realised him, achieve the zenith. The star at pinnacle for the last five decades, Amitabh Bachchan, was tested positive for COVID-19 last week, left his millions of fans deeply upset and perturbed. They started praying and at many places, media also reported, people performing religious rituals for well being and speedy recovery of Big B. It is making us to remember the nostalgia, when he was severely wounded, during the shooting of movie “Coolie”. The entire country is praying God to bless Big B and his family for their early recovery .And hopefully they will convalescent soon. He has his fan following in millions ,even in all over the world including America, Britain, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Pan African and all the countries, where Indian diaspora resides. They are the true audience for hindi cinema.

Amitabh Bachchan has a Pan India personality. He was privileged enough, to have a deep understanding of many cultures. His father, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan, belonged to an elite Kayashta family of Prayag in Uttar Pradesh. His mother Teji Bacchan was a Punjabi lady, wife  Jaya a Bengali, and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya is a Kannada. His daughter, Shweta is, also married to a Punjabi family. Thus his family is inclusive and not conservative. This has enabled to prosper his personality too. However,he steer clear of,from needlessly speaking english, despite being well versed in it.He loves to converse in Hindi.Indeed, he can be considered, greatest hindi venerator/adorer.It is unfortunate that few years ago, his invitation to “Vishwa Hindi Sammelan”(World Hindi Conference) organised at Bhopal(M.P.) bothered many, so called, intellectual of Hindi Literature.”Will Amitabh Bachchan will teach us, how to speak hindi?” they questioned ironically. “Is Hindi witnessing a distress?”Some narcissist claimed to that extent that, Hindi or Khari boli is being transformed into an impoverish language because,a star like Amitabh Bachchan, who speaks Hindi without knowing its meaning,is talking on the discipline”.These kind of criticisms, came from writers, who failed to sell even 100 copies of their books. I also, was invited to speak on spread of Hindi on foreign land, specially those countries where Indian diaspora is residing for last two centuries. Bluestocking Mridula Sinha, the then Governer of Goa, was presiding over the session. I proved in my research paper with facts and figures that, films of Amitabh Bachchan and Raj Kapoor has a special position in spreading popularity of Hindi in foreign land. After my lecture, many so called contractors of Hindi came to me and congratulated me also.

Solemnity towards the language

Listening to Amitabh Bachchan, will make you realise his commitment towards the language. He never uses secondary or inferior language. At the same time, many of his contemporary and extant stars, fail to converse a few sentences also in proper Hindi. They frequently embrace English in between their Hindi conversation. But Amitabh Bachchan’s conversation in Hindi is always upto the mark. He refrained himself, speaking mixed language . He always speaks standard Hindi,in the small screen most famous and biggest show”Kaun Banega Crorepati”.His pronunciation is always apt. Achieving this kind of proficiency on a language needs incessant endeavour. By virtue of this, he has drawn a huge streak. Asutosh Rana can be considered at his proximity, in proficiency next to Big B. Rana also  speaks quality Hindi. It is true that,Amitabh Bachchan hails from a family, having literature background. But it is also accurate that his language is always cultured and dignified. He strived to achieve this. He accomplish to spread Hindi,to even non Hindi speaking areas with his  Hindi films. His dialogues can be heard, from non Hindi speaking areas, like southern and north eastern India.

Prayers and blessings are being offered from entire country, for healthy and long life, of such a real pillar and volunteer of Hindi language. His schooling was done at English medium, Sherwood school, and he graduated in science stream from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. But he never compromised on his Hindi language standard. His profound relationship with Hindi was always intact.

Seen ups and downs

He has received, almost every  award and acclaim of cinema industry. The fans of “The star of the millenium” Amitabh Bachchan, always accuse that he was awarded the highest award of Indian cinema, namely, Dada Saheb Phalke Award with undue delay. But he was awarded this, last year, when he was completing, half century of his journey,in cinema. He has witnessed many ups and downs, while reaching this zenith position. His starting movies didn’t do well on box office. Then in 1973,success of movie” Zanjeer”, changed his fortune. This movie made him “The angry young man” of the Indian cinema. Then after, “Deewar”, Sholey”, “Abhimaan”,” Kabhi Kabhi”, “Trishool”, “Kala Pathar”, “Amar Akhbar Anthony”, “Don”, “Lawaris”, “Muqaddar ka Sikandar”  Coolie”,”Sharabi”, “Shahenshah”, “Agneepath” came to be a great success. He did his debut in 1969 with “Saat Hindustani”.He might have not realised,at that time, that he will be “The First Person”, of Indian cinema, in the coming years. Initially movies like “Jadugar”, “Lal Badshah”, “Main Azaad Hoon” were not successful.

“Miss world”competition in 1996 was organised by his company,Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited(ABCL). This competition incurred him heavy losses. ABCL also ventured to produce many films, but they got abortive. At a point of time, he was on the verge to become bankrupt. He was left with no projects. He asked for work, from, famous producer-director Yash Chopra. Yash Chopra produced “Mohabbatein” and “Kaun Banega Crorepati” which again changed his fate. In his second inning, he did successful movies like, “Black”, ” Khaki”, “Paa”, ” Piku”, “Pink” and others. Amitabh Bachchan is not confined to the country but has a fan following around the globe. He is included in the list of few greatest actors of the world.

The expectations of the fans of Amitabh Bachchan, are still very high, from him. He will be healthy in no time.

The well wishes of millions of fans, are with him.
