Jamshedpur : The burglars struck again and decamped with iron rods, and other construction materials worth over Rs 1.5 lakh from the godown of an under constructed house at Road No. 14 in Jawaharnagar, Mango in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The police have registered a case of burglary on the basis of an FIR lodged by Mohammed Salim, the civil contractor of the house.

According to the FIR, the under-constructed house, belonged to Noor Ahmed Khan. The construction equipment worth over Rs 1.5 lakh was kept in the godown. The cost of the stolen building materials like iron rod and construction equipment is expected to be over Rs 1.5 lakh.

Officer-in-charge, Mango police station, Himanshu Chandra Majhi confirmed the burglary at Mango. ” Yes we have received a complaint about the burglary of building construction materials and have started investigation in this regard,” said Majhi.

The officer-in-charge claimed that the night patrolling is carried out regularly on the streets, including on Road No 14 in Jawaharnagar, but they failed to take notice of this burglary.

The police officer, however, pointed out that night patrolling will be intensified from today. “We are trying our best to control the spurt in petty crimes in the city and we have been successful in arresting quite a few thief involved in the reported cases but I think there is a need to ensure proper night watch.

We are planning to increase the movement of mobile police,” said another official.

He went on to add that maximum cases of thefts have been reported from Mnago, Sakchi and Golmuri areas this year. The police would increase vigil in these areas.

The serial burglary has triggered a sensation among the shop-keepers and the local residents as the incident has taken place at a locality which usually remains crowded even till the past-mid night.
