Ranchi: Jharkhand Electricity Supply Technical Workers Association members have threatened to go on an indefinite strike in case the contract of power supply in Ranchi and Jamshedpur was given to private companies as franchisees.
The agitation will start from 5th December onwards, the outfit members said. They said the decision of Jharkhand State Electricity Board to give franchise to the private companies for power supply in Ranchi and Jamshedpur would result in a huge loss to the state exchequer.
They said around 4500 employees of the electricity department will be directly affected by the decision. They said the government should not implement its plan in the larger interest of the people.
