Jamshedpur, July 10: A ten day leadership and theatre workshop was launched at Lagtasai in Haldipokhar. The camp has been organized by Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (YUVA). The theatre workshop will be conducted by the city’s popular writer and theatre personality Ravi Mishra. Fifteen girls are participating in this workshop.
YUVA secretary Barnali Chakraborty said that the organization was conducting an intensive awareness drive in Potka against child marriage. She said that girls between the ages of 16 and 23 years were participating in the leadership camp. “A team of girls will be formed who will perform street corner plays (Nukkad Natak) in various villages with messages against child marriage.”
Barnali also said that YUVA had formed six girls’ football teams to develop leadership qualities in them so that an atmosphere against early marriage is created in the near future. “Apart from these projects a YUVA Kishori Manch is in our scheme of things which will spread the message of anti child marriage among girls.”
Among those present at the inauguration of the theatre workshop conducted by renowned theatre worker Ravikant Mishra were YUVA secretary Barnali Chakraborty, project coordinator Anjana Devgam, Ambati Sardar, Jyoti Pingua, Chandrakala Munda and others.
