Jamshedpur : A youth was killed and another was injured when a motorbike was hit by a NML bus on Sakchi-Station Road bus. While one was killed on the spot, the pillion rider suffered serious injuries.
The victim Ganesh Das, a resident of Mahanand Basti in Jemco near Telco was taking his younger cousin brother Ajay Das, a matric student on his bike to the examination center at Adivasi High School in Sitaramdera. The matric examinee Ajay Das narrowly missed coming under the wheels but sustained injury and was rushed to MGM Hospital for treatment.
Soon over the road mishap locals put up blockade on the road for over two hours along with body of the deceased youth. The protesters demanded that the district administration impose speed limits for heavy vehicles.
The blockade was lifted after intervention of the Dhalbhum sub divisional officer, Prem Ranjan, DSP city K. N Choudhary and arrival of security personnel from Golmuri and Burmamines police stations.
The mob dispersed after police announcement that the driver of the bus, identified as Deepak Nayak, has been arrested by the Burmamines police station and assured that National Metallurgical whose bus was involved in the accident would also pay compensation as per government norms in a day or two.
