Jamshedpur : In line with the efforts to foster and improve entrepreneurship and related activities, XLRI along with Entrepreneurship Cell, a student run body dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship among the masses, held Ideakon, a highly interactive speaker series cum Networking Event on Entrepreneurship on November 15, 2014, in partnership with Ashu Agrawal an entrepreneurship evangelist.
A panel of eminent start-up entrepreneurs who have already made their mark in entrepreneurship which included Shruti Dhanda(Founder & CEO, Shop to Surprise), Akshay Verma(Founder & Director ,SkillHippo, Agratam India, Arion Ratings), Akanksha Bapna(Founder & CEO, Eval Design), Naeem Khan (Founder, Foodys), Gaurav Barman(Founder, EduVision), Harshit Mittal(Founder, IdeasFreezed), and Robin Jha(Founder, Tpot).
Prof. Prabal Sen, the faculty advisor of E-Cell, XLRI welcomed the speakers and triggered a start to an insightful talk and speaker-series on entrepreneurship. The session had a broad spectrum of topics and variety of subjects, aimed at enlightening the audience about their exciting journeys from the seed stage to the growth stage and the difficulties they faced and how they dealt with it. The speaker sessions were from several backgrounds; ranging from technology; to agriculture; to advertisement.
The speaker series spanning 3 hours, ended with the felicitating the speakers with a token of appreciation. This was followed with an Audience-to-Start-up Networking Session, where in the audience, which included students of various B-schools and engineering colleges, interacting with the speakers, clarifying and bringing various new dimensions to the fore. The Start-up-to-Start-up Networking Session, scheduled at 3:00 p.m. witnessed a high interaction between the start-ups and the eminent faculties of XLRI and other guests. The speakers were felicitated with mementos as a token of appreciation for the highly valued inputs they provided.
“The purpose behind this was to bring variety to the platform and facilitate healthy discussion.” said a member of the organizing committee of Entrepreneurship Cell. In order to encourage the student fraternity at XLRI towards entrepreneurship and ideating and taking their ideas forward by pitching it, one of the rounds also had an elevator pitch session that was conducted in parallel to the aforementioned Networking Sessions.
“The audience, undoubtedly, benefited greatly from the experiences shared by the start-ups on the stage, as well as off stage. These experiences may also motivate a number of students here in XLRI to take the plunge into an entrepreneurial venture. IdeaKon would also be a great place for the start-ups to network with each other, as well as with some of the professors here in XLRI.”, said a professor, who himself has worked towards encouraging and instilling entrepreneurial seeds in the students of XLRI.
