Jamshedpur : About ninety percent of the Internet websites are using Linux. The big players of IT sector such as the Face book, Google, Yahoo, LinkedIn etc. have embraced and adopted Linux and other open source software technologies for their core work. The future is of open source technology.

Accordingly, there is a huge demand of Open Source professionals in the job sector all over the globe. It was stated by the Linux Expert Mr. Chanchal Bose, while inaugurating the one-day workshop on Open source technology in the RVS college of Engineering & Technology today.

The Chief Guest on this occasion, Mr. Bose, conducted two marathon sessions on three topics of Open source technology – Linux, Android application and Word Press. He lighted the lamp and inaugurated the workshop. In the inaugural session, the Secretary of the College Governing Body Mr. Bharat Singh told that the rapid change of technology in the present scenario is a signal to the students to be updated so that they won’t have dearth of job opportunities.

The Director, of the Institute Prof.(Dr.) M.P. Singh told that the college will continue to go with such workshops, seminars in the interest of the students. The Head of the Department of computer Science Engineering Dr. Rajesh Kumar Tiwari underlined the importance of open source tech. He stated that numerous important fields like Nanotechnology, Chemistry, Geography, Games, and Entertainment etc. have developed Open Source based tools.

Face book has saved $ 10 billion with the implementation of Open source technology. There is a huge demand of Linux and other open source professionals and the supply is not adequate as yet. Thus, this is high time for the students to learn this skill.

At the end of the workshop, the participants took a test through an assessment sheet. Two students with highest score –Ranvir Gorai and Raj Kumar Mandal were awarded prize.
