Jamshedpur, June 25: “Dyslexia is a not a disease. It is only a disorder which prevents people from reading. We can help a dyslexic child reach his fullest potential through a series of activities and exercises with continuous progress monitoring by parents and teachers.”
This was the essence of the workshop on ‘Dyslexia-a learning disability’ conducted by TQMS at Jusco School South Park on Saturday.
The resource persons for the workshop were Divya Jalan, president-founder and trustee of ‘Breaking Through Dyslexia,’ and Aruna Bhaskar, special educator, Spastics Society of Karnataka, Bangalore.
The workshop was attended by 40 teachers and counselors from JUSCO School South Park, KPS Gamharia, DBMS English School, Sacred Heart Convent, DPS Sakchi, RMS High School, DBMS Kadma and Rajendra Vidyalaya.
The workshop was also graced by the presence of Dipali Misra and Vidya Battiwala, TQMS along with Radha Biswas. The school principal Shovna De, vice-principal Mili Sinha, Coordinators K. Jaishree and Soma Banerjee also attended the workshop along with the teachers.
Shovna De thanked the resource persons and TQMS for the workshop. She described this workshop as a beginning towards creating a dyslexia free classroom that will facilitate learning for everyone in the school.
