Jharkhand reports 72 new positives as corona cases reach 595

Jamshedpur, May 30: Atleast 43 new Covid-19 positive cases were detected in Jamshedpur on Saturday alone. One person was reported positive in the morning hours of Saturday while 42 new cases came up late in the evening. The first person reported positive on Saturday is a resident of Birsanagar who has a travel history to Mumbai. Two persons had travel history from Maharashtra while one each from Delhi, Gurugram and Chennai had arrived in the city and were staying in quarantine centres in different parts. All the positive cases have been shifted to Tata Main Hospital Covid wing. DC Ravi Shanker Shukla confirmed about the detection of 43 new cases. All the 43 new positive cases are migrants. Of the new cases, samples of 25 were taken and were sent to quarantine centre while the other two cases are of Mango’s Daiguttu and Jugsalai’s Purani Basti who were in home quarantine. DC Ravi Shanker Shukla confirmed the news. Mango’s Daiguttu and Jugsalai’s Purani Basti have been declared new containment zones in Jamshedpur and have been sealed.  Containment zones are barricaded areas where residents are not allowed to move out, they are subjected to regular screening and community testing for people with symptoms, high contact tracing, regular sanitisation, door-to-door health checks and doorstep delivery of essential goods, even as the rest of the city witnesses phased revival of business and commerce activities.

A team of volunteers drawn from Indian Red Cross Society and civil defence and local NGOs with face masks and gloves were positioned at the control room set up to deliver food grains, other edible items and other essential items to households.

Jugsalai’s Shruti Chowk (Purani Basti) resident is a doctor’s son who had returned from Mumbai a couple of days back and was in home quarantine. Mango resident had returned from Kolkata and was also in home quarantine but was roaming all over the area.  Other 25 patients were in quarantine at the government centres. At Telco’s dealer apprentice hostel quarantine centre a man was tested positive who had returned from Lucknow while another positive from the same centre has arrived from Asansol. 15 positives came from Dhalbhumgarh of which 14 had arrived from Chennai while another had come from West Bengal. At Mousabani quarantine centre a man who had arrived from Chennai also tested positive. A Sonari resident was in quarantine at GT Hostel in Kadma had arrived from Kolkata

With 43 new cases in East Singhbhum the tally in Kolhan has crossed 100. All the positives have travel history. The total cases in Jharkhand have reached 595 with 72 new cases reported on Saturday, May 30. Of the 72 new cases 43 are from East Singhbhum, 13 from Dhanbad, 4 from Simdega, 1 from Gumla, 2 from Khunti, 4 from Hazaribagh, 2 from Garhwa while 1 from Palamau have tested positive taking  state tally to 595.  With 72 new cases on Saturday the cases of double of cases is 11 days in the state and if the same trend is there 1650 patients will be positive in next 15 days. Earlier on Friday, May 30, 46 cases were reported while 42 cases came in on May 20.  Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla said that the administration is working hard to make Jamshedpur free from coronavirus. The administration has urged people to cooperate with the district administration in preventing the possible spread of corona virus. DC said that people should not move out of homes unnecessarily, they must use a mask, wash their hands regularly with soap or use a sanitizer. Do not spit here or there
