Jamshedpur, Jan 19: The early hours and the chilly climate could not dampen spirits as the 5th edition of Jusco Marathon run as a part of Wheels 2014 organized by the GET club was a roaring success.
From the school children of Jamshedpur to dignitaries from Tata Motors, it was a diverse crowd of 1200 odd people that turned out to run on Sunday morning for a noble cause of a greener tomorrow.
The main event was 3.2km run through Telco Colony that was flagged off from Telco Club at 7:20 a.m. by the Plant Head, Tata motors and General Secretary of Telco Workers Union.
The remaining people walked 1.7km to complete the event. There were ambulances and volunteers in patrol to attend any emergencies and Tata Nano escorting the participants. Water Points were also in plenty along the way to hydrate the runners.
AB Lall the plant head spoke on length about the commitment of Tata Motors in taking decisions keeping in mind the sustainability of environment.”
Children are the future of the country and Wheels has targeted the right audience for raising awareness for a greener Bharat” said the General Secretary of TWU Chandraban Prasad.
The chairman of the GET Committee Mr. Mohan Kumar congratulated the GETs for their efforts and thanked all the participants, the various school authorities and the sponsors for their valuable support.
The winners in various categories were given away certificates of appreciation and medals while Master Vikash Kumar and Miss Jyotsana Shandilya who came first in the boy and girl category respectively were given away cycles sponsored by Mahabir Cycles.
