Jamshedpur: Bharatiya Janata Party will expel Vidyut Varan Mahato, party’s candidate from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency, in case charges of horse trading against him are proved. This was declared on Tuesday by the state BJP spokespersons Prem Mittal and Mohammad Kamal Khan.
“We have no idea if charges of horsetrading against Vidyut Varan exist. If at all they do and are proved against him, the party will definitely remove him from the party,” said Mittal, speaking to scribes at the central election office of the party at Baradwari on Tuesday. \
Asked if the BJP had reconciled with the allegations of horsetrading against the former JMM leader and Baharagora MLA, Mittal said the party will take steps in compliance with its strict disciplinary policies.
Rubbishing charges of under table dealing between the BJP and its former ally All Jharkhand Students Union leveled by Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, the BJP leaders said, “Had it been so, the AJSU president Sudesh Mahato would not have filed his nomination from Ranchi constituency. He would have readily stepped aside and allowed the BJP to field its candidate alone. But this is not the case as we all know. Unlike the BJP, the regional parties do not have a definite political vision or policy. This is why they are seeing things from an oblique angle.”
The BJP spokespersons denied presence of any resentment within the party members caused by the entry and announcement of Vidyut Varan in the party as the Lok Sabha candidate. “There is no disappointment or dismay among the party workers over the party decision to give the party ticket to Vidyut. All leaders and activists are united to ensure victory of the party. We all have to ensure victory of Narendra Modi and make him the Prime Minister,” said the spokespersons.
Khan said the entire country was seeing the rise of Narendra Modi as the sole alternative to Dr Manmohan Singh on the PM’s post. “All other parties are contesting for the second, third and other positions. The top position will be clinched by the BJP without doubt. Even the JVM’s candidate from Jamshedpur Dr Ajay Kumar has not had much achievements to his credit over the last two and a half year. He had won the by-election in different circumstances altogether. But now things have changed. People are in no mood to compromise with their conviction to vote for the BJP,” he said.
The BJP leaders said the demand for special state status to Jharkhand long raised by the people and leaders of the state will be fulfilled by Narendra Modi’s government which was in the offing. “It is not the BJP which is communal. Rather it is the Congress which has such a character.
The regime of Atal Behari Vajpayee saw only one riot in Gujarat. But the Congress rule witnessed around 26,000 riots all over the country in the last 60 years. The Congressmen and supporters had gone on to support the Sikh killings following the assassination of Indira Gandhi. The Congress has done nothing for the minorities,” said Khan.
