Jamshedpur, Aug 9: The 33rd death anniversary of Shahid Nirmal Mahto was observed at many places in Jadugoda and nearby areas by various organizations. Singhbhum Mazdoor Labour Union organized a function at the UCIL Hospital Chowk in Jadugoda where the statue of the Jharkhand movement spearhead was garlanded by members and floral tributes paid. Speaking on the occasion, the Union leader Sunil Behra cast light on the various aspects of Nirmal Mahto’s life and struggle for the people especially the downtrodden and deprived. “Nirmal Mahto was a people’s leader always concerned about the plight of the common people and taking up cudgels for their rights. He was instrumental in founding Singhbhum Uranium Mazdoor Union in UCIL so that workers got their rights from the management. He dedicated his life to the community to ensure that each person got the rightful dues.” The Union general secretary Ramesh Majhi, secretary Bhogla Mardi, Subhash Karmakar and others also paid floral tributes to Shahid Nirmal Mahto.
