Jamshedpur : Two persons, including an eight-year-old boy were killed in road separate road mishaps around the steel city today.
A speeding tracker at Lendgi village near NH-33 under Chowka police station area in the adjoining Serakela-Kharsawan district ran over a boy , while in another incident a 30-year-old man identified as Indrajit Singh who was an employee of Gamharia-based Usha Martin company was killed near Dimna under Bodam police station area this afternoon.
According to sources, eight-year-old Prakash Mahto was injured while he was returning home at the adjoining Sidhvi village in Chowka. A resident of Lendgi village, Prakash was hit by the tractor.
Sources said the remaining two boys who escaped unhurt soon informed the victim’s parents, who rushed to the spot and hurriedly went over to the NH-33, about a kilometre away from the spot, for catching any vehicle to take the seriously injured boy to a hospital in Jamshedpur.
But the boy succumbed to his injury . Officer-in-charge, Chowka police station, Rajdev Singh confirmed that a tractor had caused the mishap leading to his dead.
Sub-inspector of Bodam police station, Birendra Toppo said that Indrajit was a resident of Gamharia and had come along with 50 others, all belonging to the Usha Martin Company for a picnic.
