Jamshedpur, Jan 17: Police arrested two persons allegedly smuggling cannabis from Odisha to Jamshedpur on Thursday and confiscated 48 kg of the banned substance. They also seized an SUV used for smuggling purpose.

Those arrested were identified as Mohammad Parvez and Mohammad Nawaz, both residents of Road Number 17, Green Valley under Azadnagar police station area.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop Birtharay, the accused persons used the SUV to avoid being caught easily.

“The accused duo was returning from Odisha to Jamshedpur via Sundernagar. Police had got a tip-off about their arrival with the narcotic substance. A police team was set up and sent to Sundernagar Chowk for nabbing the culprits. When the car was stopped and checked, cops found three sacks full of cannabis kept inside, he said.

The SSP said the accused persons used to sell the cannabis in the city. He said a search is on for other aides of the accused duo.
