Jamshedpur, Jan 19: City police Saturday arrested two youths in connection with the murder of Ram Murty Diyar alias ramua, a native of West Bengal, and confiscated a 9 mm pistol and five bullets from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Vishal Menon and Shyam Sunder Das. They were handed over to West Bengal police.
According to Anoop Birtharay, SSP, Jamshedpur, the accused persons had shot dead Ramua at the behest of his wife Kajal and son Sameer. One more person, Prashant Kumar Singh, a mechanical engineering student from Durgapur, arrested earlier, was involved in the killing, said the SSP.
The SSP said Kajal and Sameer had given Rs 3 lakh to the other accused persons to kill Ramua who used to torture them every now and then. “After getting fed of daily violence, the mother and son decided to get Ramua killed. A plan was laid to kill him. The accused persons shot Ramua dead after pressing his face with a pillow when he was heavily drunk,” he said.
Ramua had a criminal past and was wanted in murder, loot and extortion cases. Few years back, he had beheaded a youth in Howrah and kicked his head to spread terror in the area. He was enlarged on bail on 16th November last, said the SSP.
