Jamshedpur, August 6: A college girl and a 23-year-old youth committed suicide in different areas under Bistupur and Parsudih thana areas respectively on Thursday. The girl who was about 15 years of age committed suicide by jumping into Beldih Lake in Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area, the  youth was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his house at Barigora under Parsudih police station area in the morning.

Police have recovered both the bodies and sent them to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem having taken statements of the bereaved family members. The girl was later identified as Gayatri Kumari, daughter of Papa Rao, a resident of Garamnalah area in Sakchi.

The police said father had lodged a missing person report with the Sakchi police station in the evening.   After her body was found floating in the lake on Thursday morning, the Bistupur police got it queried through the Control Room.  The deceased’s family members identified the body.

OC, Sakchi police station, Kunal Kumar said that they have recovered a suicidal note from the house of the deceased girl, confirming it to be a case of suicide.

” We are investigating the incident. It is a case of suicide as the girl had left a suicidal note at home.  But still we have sent the body to the medical college mortuary for post-mortem,” said Kumar.

In the suicidal note, the girl, who was a student of Jamshedpur Women’s College said she was frustrated with her life and therefore taking this step.

The girl’s relative said she was carrying on her classes online, but instead of paying necessary attention to the online classes, she would remain engaged in other things on the smartphone. Her father had scolded her on Wednesday morning and immediately after it, she had left home.
