Jamshedpur: City police today claimed to have cracked the case of brutal killing of Ramesh Chandra Raut, an officer of Bank of India and Adarshnagar resident, by a gang of robbers in Sonari police station area on 24th March last, by arresting three of the suspected killers.
Senior superintendent of police, East Singhbhum, Amol Venukant Homkar said three members of the robbers’ gang had been nabbed with the stolen cash and valuables. Several ATM cards, driving licence and other documents robbed from victims were also recovered by the police from the possession of the accused persons, he said.
Ramesh Chandra Raut was attacked with rod and other heavy objects on his way from Kadma Eden Park to Sonari near H Road late on 24th March last. Cops nabbed the culprits on the basis of information obtained from local residents and other sources.
Those arrested were identified as Mangal Machhua, Kaliya Machhua and Mangalu Lohar, all residents of Sonari. They have been allegedly involved in numerous crimes like root, robbery and homicide committed at different places, police said.
The SSP said a special police team was set up to crack the case. The team members raided several places in search of the culprits and finally zeroed in on them on the basis of sufficient evidence, the SSP said.
