Technical snags lead to power crisis at Mango and Jugsalai

Jamshedpur No Comments on Technical snags lead to power crisis at Mango and Jugsalai 30

Jamshedpur : Several areas serviced by Jharkhand BijliVitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) including Mango, Jugsalai and Chhotagovindpur faced power crisis due to technical snags and installation work of new power insfrastucture.

Mango residents faced poor power supply since morning due to a breakdown of a power substation at KuarBasti. The substation supplies power to Zakirnagar feeder. The affected areas included Zakirnagar, Daiguttu, the area around Payal Cinema and Post-Office Road. There were no power in those places from 10 am to 3 pm.

At Jugsalai the power played hide and seek since early morning. From 10.30 am the power supply was stopped in several pockets of that densely populated municipality area. Normal power supply resumed only at around 2 pm.

A JBVNL official posted at Mango said, the power supply had to be restricted in residential areas due to installation and charging of a new transformer. ” The new transformer will help in reducing power cuts in Jugssalai,” he said. Residents of Chhotagovindpur witnessed prolonged power cut for eight hours from 9 am .

“In most part of the area electricity supply is not there and even in some of the locality where there is power supply is irregular. The years old electricity wires and poles are in abject condition with incident of power cuts being taking place frequently in summer,” informed, Mahesh Patel, resident of Mango.

With regard to the electricity the scenario is far from improving as large population is solely dependent on limited sets of JUVNL transformers in the area.
The worst hit were Mango, Sundernagar,Parsudih, Govindpur, Adityapur and several other localities on the outskirts of the city. Residents complained they were being forced to deal with prolonged power cuts. “We had no electricity since morning. The inverters also gave away after some time,” said Ashok Choudhary a resident of Jugsalai.

Residents of Mango which was getting about 20-hours of power supply had to confront with load sheddings every two hours. The situation was no better in other JUVNL command areas which faced problems of erratic power supply , prolonged load sheddings and voltage fluctuations.Blackouts greeted areas like Galudih and Mosabani.
