Jamshedpur : Consumers of the Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) are a harassed lot these days, thanks to frequent breakdowns.
During the last 48-hours complaints of intermittent power cuts and prolonged loadsheddings have poured in from various JSEB serviced areas in the city and its adjoining areas.

A major breakdown at the 33 KVA transmission line, near the Adityapur toll bridge that disrupted power supply in several JSEB command areas.

Several areas of the city under the command area of Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) continued to experience severe power cuts due to technical snag. Areas like Mango, Adityapur, Parsudih, Chhotagovindpur and Jugsalai are the worst hit due to technical snag.

JSEB sources said several areas under the Singhbhum supply area including Mango, Chhota Govindpur, Karandih, Parsudih, Jugsalai, Ghorabandha and Adityapur is facing problems of compulsory load shedding and power tripping . Production activities at the

General manager of Singhbhum supply area, O P Ambaste said that power supply was disrupted in several localities under the board due to the breakdown near the Adityapur toll bridge and technical snag at one of the feeders at Ghorabandha .

“The technical snags took place due to the rain in the last couple of days. The breakdown was major at our tansmission line near the Adityapur toll bridge due to a lightning. Efforts are being made to streamline power supply,” he said adding that such tecnhical snags take place in regular intervals as JSEB transmission lines are overhead. Though today power supply was streamlined from the Gamharia grid sub-station, sources said that Bagbera and its adjoining areas faced problems with 10 to 12 hours of load shedding. Sources said some technical problems cropped up in power transmission poles at Bagbera.

When contacted an executive engineer of JSEB, also admitted about the problem. “The power supply was disrupted due to technical snags in the power grid sub-stations and the transmission lines. Efforts are being made to restore normal power supply at the earliest, ” he said.

The Adityapur industrial area in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district also had to bear the brunt of the power crisis. Sources in industrial area said that several tiny, small and medium scale units could not operate due to the power crisis.
