Higher Education director and RUSA nodal officer inspect land allotted for projects

Jamshedpur: A team comprising the director of higher education in Jharkhand Ajay Kumar Singh, state nodal officer of RUSA Dr Shambhu Dayal Singh and several engineers inspected the proposed site for the construction of women’s university and government engineering college in Sidhgora on Monday.

The team members inspected the land besides the Surya Mandir earmarked for the construction of the proposed university and the land in front of Timken Gate for the setting up of the engineering college. They found the lands suitable for the said projects. They said a proposal would be sent to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to straighten the high tension power cables passing over head.

The higher education director said the engineering college would be built at an expense of Rs 26 crore in the first phase. He said academic activities would start in the college by 2019-20. Proposals have been sent to the government for the appointment of employees and teachers. Six trades would be offered to the students.

Singh said a hostel for boys would be built in the first phase. In the second phase, girls’ hostel would be constructed. There will be 120 seats for each course.
Dr Shambhu Dayal said the purpose of setting up the college was to prevent migration of students after completion of their 12th Board studies. He further said that the women’s university would be constructed at an expense of Rs 77.5 crore.

A DPR of the university building worth Rs 55.5 crore has been prepared. The women’s hostel would be constructed at an expense of Rs 22 crore.
