Jamshedpur: The Joint Mass Communication Programme (JIMP) was organized jointly by the departments of Engineering Project and Safety & Ergonomics on Monday inside the Steel Works.
The programme was organized along with Tata Workers’ Union to spread the message of safety awareness and good health amongst all employees of Tata Steel as well as employees on contract. It also aims at developing the feeling of confidence among the employees that both the Management and Union are equally concerned for their safety and welfare.
The chief guest on the occasion, Mr Anand Sen, President, TQM and Steel Business, Tata Steel spoke about the importance of proper behavior and right attitude that plays an important role in ensuring safety and health of each individual. He further added that we should not perform any job unless we are trained to do the same. He gave some basic tips to lead a healthy life such as – having adequate meals and enough drinking water every day.
Mr V N Gaikwad, chief safety and ergonomics, Tata Steel said that the accidents are taking place despite proper training of the employees. We need to analyze the reasons behind the accidents happening and look for solutions to prevent accidents.
Mr S.K Choudhary, deputy president, TWU said Tata Steel is the only company which not only takes care of its employees but also the contract employees.
Further talking on road safety he said basic road safety rules should be followed and stressed on defensive driving.
The welcome address was given by Mr Dharmendra Kumar, chief battery number 11 Project, Engineering & Projects, Tata Steel, and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr Alok Sinha, Chairman, JDC Accounts and Engineering Project.
