On Elimination of Man-Machine Interface 2014
Jamshedpur, Feb 7: In an industrial environment Man-Machine interface is inevitable.
The challenge is to ensure that the ManMachine interface is not the cause or source of accidents.
While safety at the Man-Machine interface should ideally be ensured at the design stage, it’s also important to ensure that there is horizontal transfer of good practices across the organization and the learning from the past are used in the design for the future.
To achieve the above objective, the Divisional Implementation Committee (DIC) of Tata Steel Steel Manufacturing Division organized a two day exposition on ‘Elimination of Man-Machine
Interface 2014′ from 5 – 6 February, 2014.
This was jointly inaugurated by T V Narendran, Managing Director, Tata Steel and P N Singh,
President, Tata Workers’ Union.

A Total of one hundred fifty kaizens were displayed, out of which sixteen were horizontally
deployed from the learning of FY13 exposition.
Safety Professionals identified hazard in the workplace through Fatality Risk Control Program (FRCP).
Seventeen kaizen displayed in the exposition were developed through FRCP.
T V Narendran and P N Singh both appreciated the above ‘Bottom Up’ initiatives and stressed to continue similar initiatives in Safety in the years to come.
MD advised to deploy all such Kaizen horizontally across the organization and also at KPO.
