Noamundi, June 3: With ‘World Environment Day’ round the corner, Tata Steel’s Raw Materials Division flagged off a month-long Sustainability month celebrations on Friday at various operational locations in Jharkhand and Odisha.
Manish Mishra, General Manager, Ore Mines & Quarries (OMQ) Division, Tata Steel kicked off the celebrations for Sustainability Month in the presence of Noamundi Mazdoor Union along with other Tata Steel officials.
Sahabji Kuchroo, Chief Operations, West Bokaro, Tata Steel unfurled the flag and launched the ‘Sustainability Month’ at West Bokaro Division in the presence members from Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS) along with other Tata Steel officials.
The launch marked the beginning of a month-long series of activities that the Division has lined up for the issue of sustainability including celebrating World Environment Day. On the occasion, employees of the Division took pledge to reaffirm their commitment to sustainability.
Besides the employees, the Division also intends to include other citizens, especially school children, in its effort to spread awareness about conservation of environment.
Similar initiatives at Joda and Khondbond were also organised to mark the occasion.
It is worth mentioning here that every year, Tata Steel celebrates the month of June as ‘Sustainability Month’ to provide a platform to assist employees to connect, adopt and act on sustainability as individuals and collectively to see the change they can bring about in themselves, their businesses and in society.
