Jamshedpur: A Tata Steel employee died in mishap at the Steel Works on Wednesday. The employee died after being hit by a wagon. The victim Anil Kumar Upadhaya was a permanent worker of Lime Plant. The body was recovered at the distance of 50 meters of Tippler Wagon.
Upadhaya (52), a resident of Baridih working in the lime plant died in a mishap after he accidentally came under a wagon while trying to fix coupling of the wagon early this morning inside the company’s work.
A probe is being done by Tata Steel safety department into the incident. The body of the employee was brought to Tata Main Hospital where it was declared brought dead. The body has been sent to MGM Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.
The mishap took place when employee was engaged in the task of linking the wagon to the coupling. CCTV footage is being scanned for investigation. The employee himself was engaged in joining coupling that suddenly the wagon started running.
The Safety Department of Tata Steel is involved in investigating the incident. After getting information about the incident, MP Bidyut Baran Mahto, Food Minister Saryu Roy, former MLA Banna Gupta rushed to the hospital.
