Jamshedpur, June 2: COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Steel city. Eight new Coronavirus positives were reported in Jamshedpur on Tuesday, June 2. According to sources, one of the patient is a resident of Bistupur and has been admitted to TMH while the second positive is a resident of Siwan who met with an accident near Chowka and soon after he was admitted to Tata Main Hospital. His swab sample was taken at TMH and his report came positive on June 2 along with the Tata Steel employee. The swab samples of the positives was tested at TMH Lab. Other positives are from Gurabanda and two from Bahragora. Late on Tuesday three more cases came in from Telco , Azadnagar and Mousabani. Total positive cases in East Singhbhum district stand at 122. DC Ravi Shanker Shukla confirmed about the development and informed that all the eight patients have been admitted to COVID-19 ward of TMH.
The cases in Kolhan is nearing 150. On Tuesday Jharkhand again reported 50 cases taking the state tally to 725. Of the 50 new cases Ramgarh alone came up with 20 cases, Dhanbad reported 8, Ranchi 6, Jamshedpur 8, Hazaribagh 4 while Garhwa, Seraikela, Bokaro and Palamau reported one case each.
The state has more than 400 active cases at present, while 296 patients have recovered from the disease.
Five persons have died due to the contagion in the state.
The recovery rate for Covid-19 patients is 44.8 per cent in Jharkhand as against the national rate of 48 per cent, the bulletin said, adding that the mortality rate is 0.76 per cent compared to the national rate of 2.83 per cent.
A total of 91,722 people are in various government quarantine centres in the state and 2,85,789 people are placed under home quarantine.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease.
