Jamshedpur, Nov 22: The final rites of Tata Steel employee BN Sikdar were performed today after his body was flown in from Gurgaon on Friday morning.

President of Tata Workers Union PN Singh, General Secretary BK Dinda, officials of Tata Steel including newly appointed Chief of corporate communications Kulvin Suri and Ashish Sinha who has stepped into Prabhat Sharma’s shoes along with several others were present at the funeral and extended condolence to the family of the deceased.

It may be noted that B.N. Sikdar, who was critically injured in the LD-II explosion inside the plant on November 14, died at a Gurgaon hospital on Tuesday evening.

The 51-year-old Sonari resident was posted in the equipment maintenance wing of the steel major. He received head injuries when the gas holder roof collapsed on him and 10 others after the blast.

On Friday, Sikdar was airlifted to Gurgaon because his condition failed to improve at Tata Main Hospital’s critical care unit. He died around 5pm on Tuesday.

Sikdar is survived by his wife and daughter, the latter a Plus Two student of Carmel Junior College.
