Jamshedpur, Nov. 15: Tata Steel sports department organised handball tournament for girls of Project schools on 15th November at JRD Tata Sports Complex on the occasion of Jharkhand Foundation Day and Children’s Day.
Tarapore Balika Vidyalaya beat Prem Jyoti Prangan in the final by 2 goals to 0 on tie breaker to win the tournament.
Best Player award was won by Khushi Mukhi of Tarapore Balika Vidayalaya for scoring ten goals. Firoz Khan, ex International Handball Player awarded the prize.
Best Goal Keeper award was bagged by Sonali Sona of Prem Jyoti Prangan. Hassan Imam; ex International Handball player handed her the trophy.
Ashish Kumar, Head, Sports, Tata Steel along with Rajiv Seth, Sr. Manager, Sports,
distributed the prizes to the winners. On the occasion Bagicha Singh, Renu Bhaduriya, Firoz Khan, Hassan Imam, B K Jena, Mrinmoy, Nageshwar Rao were present and blessed the children.
In the morning before the start of the tournament two minutes silent was observed for sudden demise of Devyani of Tata Steel sports department who expired on 14th November (last evening). Sports dept employees, parents of the children, participants, trainees of TSL handball center and ground staffs were present.
Avinash Kumar conducted the entire tournament and was ably supported by Hassan Imam, Firoz Khan, B K Jena, Sr. Trainees of Handball Center and Shahid and his staffs’ team.
Total of six project schools participated in the tournament including KPS (NML); KPS (Mango); Prem Jyoti Prangan, Tarapore Balika Vidayalaya, KSMS Hindi and KPS (Kadma).
