Jamshedpur: With a promise to serve quality indigenous products and services, week-long ‘Swadeshi Mela’ kicked-off at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur. BJP MLA Raghuwar Das, inaugurated the fair.
In his address he said that there is an urgent need to promote indigenous products that are manufactured by our artisans and craftsmen. He said that there is also a need to keep a check on the increasing foreign investments.
“The western world is ruling the markets despite the fact that the products produced in our country are equally competitive. With increasing flow of western products multinationals are minting money at our own cost. It is our duty to consume ‘swadeshi’ products for the sake of our own people,” he noted.
The national coordinator also lauded the efforts of Center for Bharatiya Marketing and Development for hosting the fair. Prior to this he released a souvenir on the Swadeshi Mela.
Organised by the local chapter of the Center for Bharatiya Marketing and Development (CBMD) about 300 stalls exhibiting the finished products of the rural entrepreneurs along with several food stalls have been put up.
A fair coordinator, said that the apart from sale of products, the fair would also host talks and panel discussions on national and social issues at the venue. Moreover, during the evenings cultural programmes based on folk dances of various States would be presented.
An array of products from, computers produced by national companies to furniture have been made available in the fair.Artists from Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Orissa and host Jharkhand are participating in the fair.
