Transporter shot dead, relatives block road at JEMCO, civil contractor shot at Telco

Jamshedpur : Two shooting incidents rattled life normal life in the city late last night. In a major incident, a 46-year-old transporter was shot dead due to an old rivalry with some local goons in Jemco locality and in the second incident a 64-year-old civil contractor was shot at and seriously injured near Tata Motors Hospital gate.

Transporter Dalbir Singh Virey (46) , was shot dead by a group of unidentified assailants on the Belgara Road. The victim was hit by six bullets in the chest and head and died on the spot.

The police here said that an old rivalry between the victim and one Prakash Mishra led to the murder. According to preliminary investigation, Prakash Mishra is suspected to have conspired the murder of the transporter.

Officer-in-charge, Telco police station Kamleshwar Pandey said they are investigating the incident however, Prakash who is out from Ghaghidih Cenral Jail on parole for allegedly involved in a murder case, might be behind the transporter’s murder.

” As per our initial investigation Dalbir had an old rivalry with Prakash and his father Laxmikant Mishra over land dispute in the area. We suspect that Prakash and his father might have conspired the transporter’s murder as they were found absconding from the house,” said the officer.

According to sources, both Prakash Mishra and the transporter had clashed between themselves on several occasions earlier also and they had exchanged of fire over property dispute in Jemco.

Meanwhile, in protest against the killing, the local residents of Jemco had staged a road blockade on Jemco Chowk demanding arrest of the culprits responsible for the transporter’s murder. Another group of protestors had arrived at the office premises of senior SP, and staged a dharna to press for the assailants’ arrest.

However, later on they lifted the blockade and dharna after superintendent of police(city) Kartik S assured them that the police would arrest all those who were behind the transporter’s murder.

Meanwhile in another incident late an unidentified miscreants shot at a contractor employee Muktipada Kachhap (64) near the Tata Motors Hospital gate.

According to sources, Kachhap, who is also a former employee of Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) had come to the Tata Motors Hospital for the treatment of his ailing wife. He was shot at in the night.

He was rushed to the Tata Motors Hospital immediately and was later shifted to Tata Main Hospital where his condition was stated to be stable .
