Jamshedpur, Sept. 23 : South Eastern Railway has decided to an extra AC three-tier coach in Tatanagar-Howrah Steel Superfast Express. The facility of an extra coach will be provided from September 25 to November 30 for clearing the rush of passengers during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath.
With an aim to meet rush of passengers during the festive season, the South Eastern Railways (SER) has also decided to introduce additional coaches in several long distance trains hailing from Tatanagar.
According additional sleeper class coach is being attached to the Tata-Alleppy Express. The bi-weekly Tata-Yeshwantpur Express would also get an additional coach. Tata -Chapra Express and Tata- Jallianwalabagh Express will get an additional sleeper class coach facility.
Officials at the computerised ticket reservation system revealed that the number of waiting lists has reached the 200 mark in Tata-Alleppy and Tata Yeshwantpur Express due to the festive rush. Confirmed tickets are also not available on the Tata-Chapra and Tata-Jallianwalabagh Express.
Earlier the South Eastern Railways ( SER) introduced two special trains between Howrah-Mumbai and Howrah-New Delhi that will pass via Tatanagar. Officials of SER said that the decision has been taken to ensure hassle free journey to the passengers during the festive season.
An official of Tatanagar railway station went on to inform that they have also decided to open an extra ticket booking counter.
“Durga puja is the biggest occasion not only for the eastern part of the country but for the Railways too. Large numbers of people travel to their native places. In order to accommodate the increased rush we have decided to introduce new trains and add new coaches with the already existing trains. This will help to reduce the rush on the stations,” said an official of SER.
