Jamshedpur : Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital (BNMH) launched Jharkhand’s first Advanced Epilepsy Clinic in the city on Monday. At the launch event, the hospital also announced the joining of acclaimed Epileptologist Dr. Haseeb Hassan who will lead the clinic.

The state-of- the art clinic aims to treat severe and challenging epilepsy cases that require advanced and sophisticated medical facilities and treatment.

It will also join hands with cadre of social workers and various organisations to spread awareness about epilepsy and eliminate the stigma attached to the disease at the community level.

Commenting on the launch, Dr. Haseeb Hassan Consultant Neurologist, Epileptologist and Sleep Medicine Specialist, said, “Affecting ten million people across India, epilepsy has become the most prevalent neurological disorder in the country.

However, the awareness levels about the disease and its management is minimal. What makes it worse is the stigma attached to the patients suffering from it. Only 20 per cent-40 per cent epileptic patients get access to the treatment which require years of medical management.

With the launch of this highly well-equipped Epilepsy Clinic, we aim to provide advanced levels of treatment and medical care which plays a key role in ensuring better quality of life to these patients.”

The clinic is equipped with modern diagnostic facilities especially for Epilepsy and ensures to provide quality and cost effective treatment. The clinic aims to identify cases that are difficult to treat and help patients in ‘Seizure Control’ as well as achieve their fullest potential.

Talking about the clinic, Vineet Saini, Facility Director, Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, said, “Based on the principles of modern epilepsy management, we have introduced a specialized programme which will sensitize people about the disease, its symptoms and available treatment forms.
