Baharagora, July 29: Sambit Sarangi, a resident of Matihana in Baharagora Block scored 81.50 percent marks in the JAC conducted Intermediate Science stream there by securing fifth highest position in the district and became a topper in Ghatshila Subdivision. Sambit appeared for his examination from Baharagora High School. He also showed his academic brilliance in his matriculation examinations.
Former legislator and BJP state spokesman Kunal Sarangi today visited Sambit’s home in Matihana and honoured him with a bouquet, angvastram and a copy of the Gita. Sambit’s father is a small farmer and his mother a housewife. The family’s pecuniary status is weak. Sambit, on being asked, told Kunal that he wants to do honours in physics. Immediately, sensing the kid’s desire and the poor family condition, Kunal Sarangi got in touch with the US based Lily Foundation’s Indian representative who spoke to Sambit. The I Sc topper was assured of a monthly scholarship of Rs 2,000 from the Foundation. Since Sambit wants to do his PG and become a professor, the Lily Foundation said that it would provide him with a laptop and other assistance to help him participate in competitive examinations after his graduation. The Indian representative of Lily Foundation said that soon an interview would be arranged for Sambit Sarangi. His parents expressed their gratitude to the BJP state spokesman for boosting the morale of their son.
