Jamshedpur: In an effort to further improve passsenger amenities at that A-1 category railway station, South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur railway division has sent a consignment of stainless steel chairs.
Sources in Tatanagar railway’s commercial wing revealed that 30 four seater stainless steel chairs have been provided to Tatanagar, which are currently being installed on platform no. 1. According to sources, more chairs will arrive later this month.
Tatanagar station director H K Balmuchu said installation of the chairs would complete on platformssoon. ” In view of passengers’ presence platform no. 1 have been selected first as all originating trains from Tatanagar leave from platform no. 1 .
Passengers often used to complain about not getting space to sit while waiting for trains. We had sent a requisition to the Chakradharpur division requesting for steel chairs which will ensure convenience for passengers,” said Balmuchu.
According to the senior railway official, more chairs are expected to arrive later this month which would be fitted on platform nos 2 and 3. Both the platforms serves as halt for various long distance trains bound for New Delhi, Mumbai and other places.
Chakradharpur is the highest revenue earning railway division in terms of freight in the country. Notably, about 150 passenger trains pass through various stations of Chakradharpur railway division every day.
The Tatanagar station assumes importance in view because it is located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers daily.
