West Bokaro, May 17: The fortnight long ‘Summer Camp 2019’ by the Sports Department of Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division was inaugurated today by Sahabji Kuchroo, Chief Operations, Tata Steel (West Bokaro) along with Mr Mahesh Prasad, President, Rastriya Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS), Mr Praveen Sinha, Chief, Human Resources Management, Tata Steel (West Bokaro) and Mr Kumar Vikram, Head, Administration, Tata Steel (West Bokaro) at Sports Complex, West Bokaro.
In a fortnight long engrossing, entertaining and rejuvenating training session, 250 children are participating in eight streams including athletics, football, handball, cricket, volleyball, archery, table tennis, football along with lifestyle management and yoga classes. The activities are specifically designed to groom the participants in physical, mental and social aspects during the camp that will conclude on May 31, 2019.
Citing the importance of sports in life, Sahabji Kuchroo said, “Tata Steel has always considered health as one of the most important aspects of life and what could be better than sports. This camp will not only help the children to be fit but will also revitalize their mind and soul along with instilling the sense of team spirit and sportsmanship that will help them lead a disciplined life.” On the occasion, Kuchroo also urged the students to care for the environment and plant saplings for a better and greener tomorrow.
On the occasion, Mahesh Prasad said, “West Bokaro has created sportsmen who have brought laurels not only to the State but to the nation as well and this summer camp is the first platform in the process of making sportsmen with exceptional talents.”
It may be reiterated here that the objective of this camp organized by the Sports Department of West Bokaro Division is to develop team spirit, leadership, competitive spirit among children along with sensitizing them on the importance of fitness for all round development. During this summer camp, young talents will also be selected for joining the Feeder Centre run by the Sports Department.
Among others present on the inaugural session were Mr Naveen Kumar, Head (O&M Outbound Logistics), Tata Steel (West Bokaro), P K Mishra, Assistant Secretary, RCMS, Suresh Prasad, Treasurer, RCMS and officials of Tata Steel and Union representatives.
The event was coordinated by officials of Sports Department of West Bokaro Division led by Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Senior Sports Organiser, Tata Steel (West Bokaro).
