Jamshedpur, April 10: Security department of South Eastern Railway (SER) has been working round the clock for better protection and security of railway property, passenger area, passengers and matters connected with rail crimes.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of S E Railway, during the financial year 2017-18 arrested 51,767 persons out of which 42,360 persons were convicted under Railway Act 1989. By way of these illegal activities in railway areas, security department has realised Rs.1,10,79,808/- towards fine and penalties.

It may be noted that there are separate intelligence units i.e. special intelligence branch (SIB) and crime intelligence branch (CIB) at headquarters and four divisions i.e. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi for collection of special and criminal intelligence. Dog Squads are also deployed for detection of explosive and criminals.

A large number of persons illegally have done many offences in railway areas like roof and footboard travelling, touting, unauthorised entry into coaches earmarked for ladies, unauthorised hawking/vending, trespass, nuisance etc.
These are completely detrimental to railway resolutions.
