Jamshedpur, Aug 13: Socio-cultural organization ‘Shonar Tori’ paid tributes at Parsudih to Universal Poet Rabindranath Tagore on the occasion of his 78th death anniversary.

Organization’s secretary Rupa Haldar and litterateur and singer Rajendra Raj garlanded a photograph of Rabindranath as homage to the versatile legend. Rupa Haldar cast light on the life and works of Tagore. Guest on the occasion Zila Parishad member Sudipto Dey Rana honoured the city’s eminent flutist Ashok Das and danseuse Jaya Mukherjee with shawls and flower bouquets. Speaking on the occasion Rana observed that Tagore did not express his observations through his creative writings and paintings on any particular community but was universal in his thoughts. His contribution to the cause of humanity was immense.

The students of ‘Shonar Tori’ presented songs and dance dramas based on Rabindranath’s compositions. Rajendra Raj won thunderous applause with his renditions of Rabindra Sangeet. Among those present on the occasion included Srishti Das, Siddhi Dutta, Shikha Dutta, Ruchika Majumdar, Shreya Banerjee, Seema Ghosh, Munmun Pal, Megha Bhattacharjee, Seema Majumdar and Anushri Mukherjee. The vote of thanks was proposed by Rajendra Raj.
