Jamshedpur, Nov. 15: Tata Steel Foundation organised the Annual Matri Shishu Mela on Thursday. Through this event, TSF educated parents on the need for proper immunization of children, breastfeeding practices, healthy food habits and family planning initiatives.
Sumita Nupur, Social Worker was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, she mentioned how it is very important for the mothers to take care of their own health and their child’s health. She encouraged all the parents to actively take part in this initiative.
This year, the preliminary rounds of the competition were held in 10 TSF run Clinics in Jamshedpur and adjoining areas. The Final round was held at Center for Family Initiatives today.
The criteria for shortlisting the participants included the health of the babies as well as the awareness level of their mothers.
A nine-member jury comprising of Chief Judge Dr. B. R. Master, adjudged Shanaya Patel age 11 months, from Shivlal Basti, Sonari and Rajbeer Jaiswal, age 1year 1 month from Golmuri as the `Champion Baby Girl’ and `Champion Baby Boy’, respectively. Other judges were Dr. Renu Sinha, Dr. Jaya Moitra, Dr. Subhadra Mallick, Rama Khanna, Nishi Thakur, Bajaj, Padma, and Sharanjit.
Earlier, Niloy Mitter, Head, Health & TQM, Tata Steel ,welcomed the guests and Dr. Pushpa Tiwari, Clinical Associate introduced the Programme. Dr. J. Kalsey proposed the Vote of Thanks to conclude the function.
