Jamshedpur, June 29 : The South Eastern Railway (SER) has decided to run a special train between Santragachi and Chennai via Tatanagar from July 4. A senior official at Garden Reach, the Kolkata-based headquarters of South Eastern Railway said that initially the train would run till September 27.
The Santragachi-Chennai Central Weekly Special will leave Santragachi at 11.50 pm every Thursday. The train will reach Chennai Central at 5.30 am on Saturday. In the opposite direction, the weekly special train will leave Chennai Central at 3.15 pm every Wednesday and will arrive Santragachi at 7 pm, the next day.
The Up train from Santragachi will arrive Tatanagar railway station at 4.05 am on Friday while the return train will come to Tatanagar junction at 3.10 pm on Thursday. The train will halt for five minutes at Tatanagar railway station.
The special train comprising two AC-3 tier, 10 sleeper class and two general second class coaches will have stoppages at Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Vijayanagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijayawada, Ongole, Nellore and Gudur stations.
Tatanagar railway station witnesses a daily traffic of over 90- mail, express and passenger trains which either originate from Tatanagar of go via that station. The daily passenger footfall is close to 50,000.
