Jamshedpur, March 12: Bars functioning in basements have come under the scanner as East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar has ordered a probe into the functioning of such establishments. Excise Department Assistant Commissioner Manoj Kumar is investigating the matter. It is reported that there are five such basement bars operating in the city and all of them are situated in Sakchi area.
Kasidih resident RS Singh had complained to the DC that there were certain bars that were operating illegally. This complaint reportedly led to the investigation. The five basement bars operating in the city that have been identified are Mansurya, Yashvi International, Hotel Ganga Regency, Zenith and Status Bar.
The departmental officials have explained that the term ‘basement’ means a place eight feet or more below the street level.
