Jamshedpur, April 15: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy on Wednesday informed that a total of 83,150 persons have benefitted from foods and rations between March 27 and April 14 distributed from kitchen set up at his Bistupur residence for poor and needy affected during lockdown
Roy along with government guidelines and with the cooperation of the district administration has opened a kitchen at his J Road residence in Bistupur to cater to lunch and dinner requirements of the poor and needy. The food packets containing puris, curry and pickles are being distributed by 10 volunteers in various localities of the township including Harijan Basti and Chuna Bhatta in Burmamines, Manifit Mandal Basti, Birsanagar Zones 3 & 7, Bagunnagar, Chhayanagar, Sakchi Leaf market, East Plant Basti, Kanchan Nagar, Namda Basti, Kailashnagar and other areas. On the first day, 1,500 packets of lunch and dinner were distributed.
The volunteers will distribute the packets individually as a measure of social distancing. The district administration has provided special passes to these 10 volunteers. The kitchen is being managed by the legislator’s nephew Asutosh Roy, social worker Ashok Goyal and Saryu Roy’s PA Ricky Kesri. Asutosh said that the business fraternity could lend its support by sending food items for the kitchen.
