Jamshedpur, Jan 11: Jamshedpur East MLA and former state minister Saryu Roy paid tribute to former legislator of his constituency, late Dinanath Pandey, on the occasion of his first death anniversary here on Saturday. He visited the Pandeys at their residence. Thereafter, he visited Babudih Lal Bhatta and interacted with people. He inquired about the availability of basic civic amenities in the houses. He was told there are over 500 houses in the locality. But the houses do not have access to clean drinking water, said the residents.
Roy assured to look into the problems being faced by the residents. He said all issues would be resolved in a time-bound manner. He said he would speak to state government officials concerned on 20th January and request them to start piped water supply to the households as soon as possible.
Roy also visited Munda Basti in Sitaramdera and spoke to members of Munda community. He was accorded a warm welcome by the residents. He distributed blankets among the poor and under-privileged people. He was later welcomed by Sikh community members at Central Gurudwara, Sakchi.
At Sakchi, Roy visited the market and spoke to traders whose shops were gutted in a fire late yesterday night. He assured the traders of compensation for the losses incurred by them.
Roy earlier inaugurated a free surgery camp at Ganga Memorial Hospital, Dimna Road, in commemoration of late Ganga Devi.
