Jamshedpur, Feb 28: Sanjay Sabherwal, Managing Director, Metaldyne Industries Limited has been elected as the Chairman of CII Jharkhand State Council for the year 2020-21 while Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel Limited has been elected as the Vice Chairman of CII Jharkhand State Council for the year 2020-21.
Their name was announced at the first meeting of the reconstituted CII Jharkhand State Council held in Jamshedpur on Friday, February 28.
Sabherwal graduated from BITS Pilani in 1986, with a BE (Hons) in Chemical Engineering and a MSc (Hons) in Economics. He joined The Tinplate Co of India Ltd in Jamshedpur as a GT.
Sabherwal is an entrepreneurial bug and set up a 1-man Industrial goods distributorship in 1988. He set up the first Manufacturing facility for auto components in 1992.
Chanakya Chaudhary is a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) – Mechanical from BITS, Pilani. He has undergone various prestigious management programs like Young Managers Program at INSEAD, France in 1997, Tata Group Executive Leadership Program in 2007 conducted by Michigan Ross School of Business and Executive MBA from CEDEP, France in 2008-09.
Chaudhary joined Tata Steel in 1988 as Graduate Engineer Trainee in the Raw Material Division at Jharia, Dhanbad, India.
Earlier, session on Decoding Challenges for Growth: Focus Jharkhand was chaired by the CII Jharkhand State council chairman Neerak Kant. Sunil Kumar Sarangi, XLRI professor, Killol Kamani, MD, Samarth Engineering and Sanjay Sabherwal, MD, Metaldyne Industries said that there is a need create a five year roadmap for development of Jharkhand as the state has the potential in tourism, agri based industries and automotive which will help generate jobs.
