Jamshedpur, May 16: The Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) today chaired an urgent meeting in the presence of nominated officials of the State Panchayat Raj Department and including Block Coordinator (Panchayat), BPRO and the Junior Engineer. Three projects as per directives of the Panchayat Raj Department were discussed and decided upon. The projects were construction of rural roads with Pavers block, solar power based water distribution and installation of LED street lights in the rural areas.

It was decided that installation of street lights was to be done on priority basis and accordingly the officials and staff present in the meeting were directed to get the projects adopted by the Panchayat executive committee and presented for administrative clearance by the Mukhiyas within a week.

For projects of more than Rs 2.50 lakh, the BDO will invite tenders and after the selection of viable bidders, see to the implementation of the projects through Panchayats.

In the case of installation of LED lights, a minimum of 100 units’ proposal will have to be forwarded through the Mukhiya of every Panchayat @ Rs 2,000 per unit and a cheque for the relevant amount will have to be handed over to the District Panchayat Raj official. EESL has been selected for the supply and installation of LED lights in the state. After the installation the Mukhiyas of Panchayat will have to provide an installation verification report to the District Panchayat Raj officer who will make payment from the ESCROW account to EESL.

The District Panchayat Raj Officer also convened a meeting of officials and staff of the concerned departments for quick implementation of the projects.
