Jamshedpur, Oct 31: SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone), in association with Corporate Safety department of Tata Steel, today conducted the ‘Train the Trainers’ programme for the students and the safe co-coordinators of all the safe clubs of Jamshedpur and out locations at Centre for Excellence library.
The objective of the programme was to develop a new team which would work on the road safety initiatives at school level. The training focused on defensive driving and basic road safety rules.
Present on the occasion, Ruchi Narendran, co-chairperson, SAFE talked about the events of forth-coming School Safety Week to be held from Nov 11-16, 2013. The theme for the week is ‘Role of parents in ensuring safety of their children.’
Mrs. Narendran emphasised that during the safety week, every school should organise awareness sessions for parents. Programmes such as visiting schools and conducting safety observation sessions would sensitize the community towards the cause of safety.
In his address to the gathering, Shyam Sunder, Chief, Safety & Ergonomics, Tata Steel gave tips on basic defensive driving and said ‘We should inculcate safety habits in our behaviour, then only we can create safer environment around us.
The sessions were taken by Upender Prasad Yadav and V S Labh of Safety and Ergonomics department, Tata Steel. Participants found the session very interactive & a great learning experience.
Earlier in the programme, Chandra Sharan, Convener SAFE, welcomed the guests and requested all schools to make School Safety Week a grand success.
The programme was co-ordinated by Jitendra of fire brigade department while the vote of thanks was proposed by Nargis Madan, member, SAFE core committee.
