Jamshedpur, Jan. 11: Continuing their social initiatives, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Femina inaugurated Saheli Center at Jamshedpur High School on Wednesday. Chief Guest for the occasion, DG Dr. R Bharat inaugurated the center. Dr. Bharat also addressed the gathering on the betterment on empowering girls to stand on their feet and earn living.
Saheli center is basically a vocational course training center where the underprivileged women/girls especially widows can earn their living. It aims at upliftment of poor and needy women and thus empowers them. The Saheli Centre is equipped with Sewing Machine (including Zig Zag Flora Machine & Automatic Fashion Stitch Machine) Computers with Printers, Knitting Machines etc.
The members of the Club informed that courses in stitching, embroidery, knitting, will start from 15 February 2017. Beautician and computer training will also start soon. Health and adult education, motivation for family planning will also be taken up. The Sahelis trained in the center will go and work among their own people in their neighborhood.
The members further informed that a batch of 16 girls will start and it will be a 3 months course. The teachers from a government training centre named Lenka training will train the girls. The centre is run by Mrs. Savita Rani Lenka.
At the event school principal Bhuvaneshwari Devi and teacher Sunita Vajpayee thanked all the members of Femina for taking this initiative.
